As the name of our site implies, we are all about preserving the eroticism associated with exotic fashions of the past, with special attention being paid to the mid twentieth century; that wonderful period from the mid 1930s through the late 1960s when women dressed with ultra feminine style and grace and when fetishism surrounding this manner of dress experienced its golden era and first emerged into the broader light of day. It is our goal to provide a forum for those who experienced that era (as well as for those who are appreciative of the glamour and sensuality of those days) to share their thoughts, experiences, remembrances, stories, fantasies, photographs and other graphic representations. We encourage you contact Carl with your own writings and treasured old photographs, or those of others that are not violative of copyright laws, to: carl@retroxotique.com
We know that there are many of you out there who, like us, are stimulated, and aroused by the manner of female dress of the mid twentieth century. We hope you will share that joy and excitement with all of us who care about and desire to preserve the intense eroticism that can be associated with the female form in tightly laced corsets, heavily boned and often times complicated girdles and corselets; taut seamed stockings held in place with multiple garters (suspenders); high-heeled shoes and extraordinarily sexy boots; long leather gloves and other ultra feminine accessories and adornments of the era, such as veiled hats, fur pieces, jewelry, elaborate hair dos and make up; and the inherently erotic fashions of that era, such as long tight skirts and figure accentuating dresses – as well as the more exotic, fetish oriented enhancements of such fashions created in satin, leather and other sensual fabrics.
Retroxotique is mindful of the fact that there are plenty of other web sites out there which have already taken up this mission. In fact, it is a number of those sites which have been the inspiration for own effort. The Long Island Staylace Association (LISA) site, the Girdle Zone site, the For the Love of Opera Gloves site, Ivy Leaf’s Tribute to the Corsetiere site, the bygone fashions and art work sections of the Tight Skirts site, the retro photographs of boots from the Bootlovers web site, the hundreds if not thousands of retro fetish photos from the Rebecca H Heels site and the Traditional Ladies Wear site are only a few of the exceptional on line resources that have inspired us to move forward with our own effort. It is certainly not our intent to attempt to replace or compete with these wonderful, masterfully conceived web sites; quite the contrary. We only wish to provide an additional or alternative forum for those wishing to share with others their often times intensely erotic feelings, real life accounts and fantasies about such things; and hopefully their own amateur photographs and other representations of their experiences. We have simply noted that, with some exceptions, most of the other sites attempting to preserve the exotic magic of female fashions of that era either limit their efforts to a single element of feminine or fetish wear of the era, or they purposefully shy away from exploring their more intensely erotic elements. It is our hope to remedy that situation by providing a single forum for those who appreciate all aspects of retro fashions and fetish wear, either alone or in combinations, and also for those who wish to confront the more directly sexual aspects of such things in all their many varieties and possibilities.
And, as we are all too aware, there are apparently thousand and thousands of sites of sexually explicit nature, but few focus on the themes of retro fashions and fetish wear of the mid twentieth century. Our friend Chris of England, who did the opening page illustration for this site, is involved with three web sites that tend to emphasize these things but from a pure fantasy perspective. While they are pay sites, they are certainly worth the time, effort and relatively minor expense for those interested in fetish and retro fashion clad women of the 1950s and 1960s involved in sexually explicit activities. But, again, be forewarned, these sites may not be for everyone as much of the written and some of the graphic material is quite explicit and touches on issues of bondage, discipline and female domination. The three sites can be found at: http://www.chriscartoons.com;
That brings us to two rather delicate topics that ought to be addressed from the outset; the age appropriateness of our site and the undoubtedly sexually explicit nature of some of the written and graphic materials we hope to offer for your perusal. While some of the material on our site is certainly not sexually explicit, it is, nonetheless, designed for adults. On the other hand, some of our material can in deed be best described as sexually explicit and, therefore, may not suit the tastes of many readers. We will attempt to forewarn readers and viewers to that effect before they enter certain portions of the web site or view certain specific materials
While we hope to showcase collections and presentations (both graphic and the printed word) of materials originating with real people who experienced the eroticism of mid twentieth century female dress, we will most certainly present the efforts of past and present professional photographers, artists and writers who, in our estimation, have done a masterful job of preserving and recreating the eroticism of the era. But, and we can not overemphasize the point, we are also soliciting in put from those of you currently undertaking your own efforts at preserving one of the most intriguing aspects of the social and cultural history of the mid twentieth century. If you would like to contribute material of any form to this site, please contact Carl at: Carl@retroxotique.com
One last word by way of introduction – but their will certainly be more as we move forward and evolve to meet the expectations of our readers – we intend to focus this site on the appropriate adornment of the adult female body (of all shapes, sizes and ages) in the glamorous, exotic and fetish fashions of our favorite era. While we have nothing at all against the male cross dressing and transgendered communities, we have simply decided to focus our limited time and efforts on those aspects of mid twentieth century fashion and fetishism of primary interest to us.
It is not our intent to post written or graphic materials that violate the copyright laws of any nation, or to post private material against the wishes of the people involved. If you believe that we have inadvertently done either, please contact us via email at: admin@retroxotique.com We will remedy such situations, as appropriate.
